In the summerhouse of our farm, which was built in 1865,
and situated just 200m from the city border of Amsterdam you
will find our B&B.

The B&B consists of 2 spacious bedrooms each with individual
bathroom, a lounge area and a large kitchen. The folding doors
bring you to the large private garden which gives you a panoramic
view to the surrounding pastures with grazing sheep and cows.

Bed and Breakfast Het Gein



HISTORY

The B&B has a rich history: until the 60’s the summerhouse was a cattle shed with hay-loft and the farm was leased by a farmer’s family. Later on the land was sold by the Amsterdam municipality to the famous Dutch sculptor Nel van Lith. On the old hay-loft she gave sculptor lessons to our Queen Beatrix (then Princess).

From 1995 a garden architect lived here and she designed the English/French garden that is still intact today. Since May 2010 the B&B Het Gein is situated in the summerhouse.

SURROUNDINGS

Our B&B is situated in the countryside on a dike next to the picturesque river “Het Gein”. A typical Dutch surrounding where you can bike, walk, horse ride or canoe. In the summertime you can swim in the river Het Gein.

Nearby are two golf courses, De Hoge Dijk (18 holes) and Old Course Loenen (9 holes), and there is plenty of water recreation possible on the various waters in our area: Gaasperplas, Loosdrechtse Plassen and Vinkeveense Plassen.

Amsterdam is also nearby: with a bike it takes you 5 minutes to subway station Gein, which takes you in 20 minutes to the city of Amsterdam. With a car you can drive in 5 minutes to the P+R subway station of Gaasperplas, or in 15 minutes to the center of Amsterdam.
